In 2013 I worked with Jennifer Lahl of the Center for Bioethics and Culture on two feature-length documentaries focusing on reproductive technologies- Breeders: A Subclass of Women? and the re-release of a previous documentary, Eggsploitation.
Breeders focuses on the issue of surrogate pregnancy in the United States and throughout the world, and questions the lack of government regulation in the exploitation of women’s bodies. Eggsploitation delves into the complicated and often dangerous world of egg donation.
These projects reminded me why I love shooting documentaries- they opened my mind and my world up to an issue of which I had previously been barely aware.
